HOLK TECH Connect

A gateway that links a printer owner's machine to the RentA3DPrinter platform.

Project overview

A gateway that links a printer owner's machine to the RentA3DPrinter platform.

What problem are we solving?

A workshop printer should not be exposed by pasting its passwords or private keys into a website. The owner still needs a trustworthy way to say: this machine is mine, and it may receive work.

How does the technology work?

Connect is being built as a small device the owner enrolls. The gateway keeps its own identity. The platform then talks to that enrolled gateway, and the gateway talks to the printer on the local side. The public site explains the parts. It does not list serial numbers, tokens or keys.

System architecture

  • Enclosure and local controls.
  • An ESP32-class controller and a small display.
  • Device enrollment that creates an identity on the gateway.
  • A printer link on the workshop network.
  • A platform session that stays on the enrolled device.

Development phase

In development. Enrollment and the printer link are engineering work on the platform. The gateway is not a finished retail product.

Current challenges

  • Workshop networks differ. A link that works on a bench still has to behave on an owner's network.
  • The public explanation must stay useful without revealing credentials.
  • The on-screen status a host sees must match what the platform actually knows.

Next milestones

  • Continue enrollment and the printer link with the RentA3DPrinter software.
  • Show a photograph of the physical gateway here only when one can be published without confusing it with a concept image.
